Recommendation for a good performing 9.3X62?

I bought a Sauer 100 a few weeks ago and like how it feels and handles, the hard rubber pad and 14.5 LOP sucks which is being corrected now. the trigger is great adjusted to 2.2 pounds.. the only thing I wish would be a longer magazine to seat bullets longer. but it is a neat trim rifle, just wish I could take it to Africa in 8 days but permit has already been approved

Does yours have a wood stock?
As posted above, I like mine a lot including the LOP but looking at he synth stock not sure how it could be shortened?

You could shorten it by buying a wood stock. :)
Yes, of course. But I don't want one. I like the synthetic stock I have.
My question was just in regards to how a synthetic stock could be shortened. Not sure it can be, so my surmise was that the previous post involved a wood stock.

Therein lies the problem with synthetic stocks.

True enough, among other things. They do have their advantages as well.

Thanks. I do not want mine cut. I like it as-is but was wondering about the technical end for others I know.
Again, thanks.

Look at Simson LTD they sometimes have a ZG 47 in 9.3x62 and I think they had a type B Mauser also.

Yes it can be done. I have had several shortened.

Here are the available options in the USA.

Steyr
Blaser
Sauer
Mauser
Heym
Sako
Merkel
Krieghoff

Used
Ruger
CZ
Husqvarna

Easy rebarrel
M70
M700 or clone

Keeping things strictly limited to currently manufactured choices, my recommendations are:
1) Voere Model 2165
2) Joh. Rigby & Co. Highland Stalker
3) Mauser M98 Diplomat
4) Zastava M70

The first three can be taken to the bush straight out of the box. The last one needs a little tuning up by a good gunsmith.

This is my favorite one.

Sadly it looks like Viere 2165 is sold out from them . It’s a great action , my 7x61 is build off that action .

The 2155 they have ,

But I would looked at LBW from them , system rifle that have many barrels to choose from and stock and such

I like both of my rifles in 9.3x62, a CZ 550 American and a Steyr SM12.

For the money, it’s hard to beat the CZ 550, but if you can swing it, the new Steyrs are incredible rifles.

My Steyr shoots incredible groups and has shot every Bullet weight from 185 grains to 286 to the same point of impact at 100 yards.

Mine has factory fiber optic sights which were perfectly zeroed from the factory.

Using Talley QD bases and rings, I can take the scope off in a few seconds and have a perfect set of high visibility sights ready to go.

Get one of the new Steyrs with the aforementioned sights and you are ready almost anything.

The 140gr HPBT will kill a whitetail with ease, just put the bullet where it should go.

140gr ELD-M works well and has killed thousands of deer at this point,. but the Berger 140gr Elite Hunter would be my go-to for a 'do everything' bullet since I personally dislike having 'hunting loads' and 'target loads'.

You missed Rigby.

The new Sauer 9.3x62 looks like a lot of gun for the money. $2,700 I believe. River and Glenn is taking deposits for them. I believe they’re called the Exception. I handled one at the DSC expo this last week and it was really nice with great wood. Good weight as well. Could be wrong but I believe it comes with a scope and swing off mounts. Good irons and a barrel sling swivel. Push feed action.

I own a Sauer 100 Classic XT with the synthetic stock. As previous posters have commented the LOP (14.5”) and factory recoil pad could stand some improvement. I removed the factory pad, cut the stock back, expoxied a piece of wood inside the stock cavity to mount a grind to fit limbsaver pad. The stock is now a 13.5” LOP. I also sent it off for a paint job.
The pictures show the original factory, post limbsaver install and then final paint. Stock should be
Back in my hands next week.
