I don’t know why that’s ever suggested. It’s easily photoshopped and has been in past. Nothing replaces a phone call.

I am surprised that this site is attacked so much by scammers. You can check my listing in classifieds for a Blaser 375 H&H barrel. There is a pic of last our last local paper with the date on it. I agree with 375Fox. I will take a phone call from whomever is interested.

It is also suggested to prevent lazy scammers from taking the pics and using them to make scam ads. If you put the paper over a part that is hard to photoshop in, it makes it harder for them.

It’s been done in scam ads here in past so apparently not that difficult. Scammers don’t make quality posts and scammers can’t talk hunting on the phone. Scammers also don’t have buying/selling references you can check on. The piece of paper with name and date adds no value.
