Excited to join the community. My name is Scott. I have been on six hunts in various African countries over the years. I hunt pigs and deer in California, doves and deer in Mexico, pheasants, ducks and geese all over. Definitely did a lot of northern stuff when I was younger, sheep, moose and all the stuff! Now I’m getting a bit older and it’s about the kids. Took my 16 year old god son to SA last year and taking my 17 year old daughter in ‘26. Super fun to go with young hunters!

I look forward to learning from you guys.

Good day! Welcome to AH, Scott!

Hey Spike!

I live in Santa Cruz county. Have a ranch in the mountains east of San Jose for deer and pigs. Grew up hunting ducks in the bay like maniacs, pheasants in Milpitas on the old Zanker Ranch. A lot has changed since those days! Mostly hunt on the ranch and down in Mexico these days with a trip to Africa now and then!

Ha! Birds of a feather it seems. I'm in Brentwood...about 1 1/2 hrs apart. We'll have to get together at some point.
I managed the oldest Duck Club in California for a # of years...the Cordelia Club in the Suisun Marsh. My best amigo has a rice ranch in Yuba City that we hunt Ducks and Geese on now and I also hunt Franks Tract regularly in a floater. Guided Bear hunts up North for over 15 years back in the day, and Caribou in No. Quebec for a good bud's outfit. Started fishing and hunting Mecico in the early 80's and have been more times than I can count. A Duck hunt out of San Fernando last year was my final trip to Mexico...it's just not worth possibly getting murdered or kidnapped. I try to do Argentina a couple of times a year.
I think you'll enjoy the AH forum. Great bunch of very experienced and knowledgeable guys...with just a few of the usual exceptions.
Good to meet you.
Kind Regards
Spike

Nice to “meet” you Spike. I was born in Byron and lived there until I was 10. My Great Grandparents farmed sugar beets and alfalfa in Byron Tract well before Discovery Bay. My grandparents and my mom and dad all went to Liberty High. Still have tons of family in Brentwood, Knightsen and Tracy. I’m at the Gustine Gun Club in the Grasslands for ducks these days.

Who do you hunt with in Argentina? I’ve gone a couple of times and enjoyed it.

I have a question about your scope. Is the Innomount an SR-to-Picatinny mount?

Just moving to DM. Yes, please ask your friend if he knows somebody who might be willing to support a persistent hunt in the snow.

Hi Paul,
This is Daniel from Mankazana Safaris.

I saw your post regarding a hunt in Africa. I am sure you have been bombarded with messages and replies from other outfitters, so I will keep this one quick.
I have a feeling we have exactly what you need for a first safari.
If you'd like to hear more, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Yours sincerely,
