Hey there! A little bit of background I guess, I grew up in central Alberta. Bush country, hills, farm fields and with a short drive mountain country. I guess it’s been about 20 years since I started hunting I’ve got a number of deer under my belt but still on the quest for a good bull elk. Anyway on to the meat of the matter I recently attended our local outdoorsman’s show and while there entered a draw for a 4 day African hunt. Low and behold I won so am now in the process of booking the hunt and educating myself on all the aspects of it

Welkom! What animals are included?

:S Welcome:
Congratulations! Who will be your outfitter?

Good day! Welcome to AH and congratulations!

Hello and welcome!

This seems a good deal. Not to many days, a few animals. Probably enough for the 4 days. Better than much of the donated hunts I've seen on here

Caracal definitely a nice trophy. Will you pursuing it with hounds?

Are you planning to do taxidermy? A full mounts caracal that is done probably is a great piece for the trophy room.

Caracal and jackal are night hunts. The caracal is the only one I’m considering mounting the others less the jackal will likely just be euro mounted

Understandable. If you are planning more hunts in the future in Africa you'll need the space for future trophies ;). White blesbok is quite a nice shoulder mount to be honest though.

You're planning for some extra animals on this hunt or just the one that are offered.

Anyway enjoy the trip and good luck planning. It is already a part of the hunt.

Unsure about extra animals. It really depends on how much extra cash I can put together. But I’m considering either warthog or impala and a baboon

Welcome to AH.
If you are flying that far book more days and more hunting if it is affordable.
Good luck with your planning. There is a host of information you'll require to make your safari a success.

Welcome on the forum.
Be carefull!
Hunts won on action, sometimes bring more troubles then solutions. (do the search here)
All going well, 4 days is not too much - consider upgarding to 7 or 10 days hunt, and add few more species.
Search for species availability and overall prices, day rates and trophy fees in country where you will go, to have an idea of what you can expect.

I’ll be hunting with Koranna Mountain Safaris. The hunt includes black wildebeest, white blesbok, jackal and caracal. Just enough to get a fella hooked I’m sure
Yea, you think you're lucky right now... Just wait a few years, you'll be selling a kidney finance another cape buffalo hunt. Jokes aside, congrats! You're about to embark on the last true adventure, an African Safari.

Greetings Outta talent,

Khomas Highland Hunting and Fishing Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.

Best Regards,

Just moving to DM. Yes, please ask your friend if he knows somebody who might be willing to support a persistent hunt in the snow.

Hi Paul,
This is Daniel from Mankazana Safaris.

I saw your post regarding a hunt in Africa. I am sure you have been bombarded with messages and replies from other outfitters, so I will keep this one quick.
I have a feeling we have exactly what you need for a first safari.
If you'd like to hear more, please don't hesitate to reach out.
