My kudu from the Kalahari .
Not big compared to some, 53" but big enough for me. I'm more than happy with him.
He was hiding in the bushes behind, front on facing shot. One shot with the Whelen, a 20 yard dash and nose dive into the red Kalahari sand.
Range 120 yds, projectile 225gn accubond at 2900fps.

The accubond after it penetrated from front to rear ham. Around five feet of penetration thru the chest, rumen and intestinal tract.

2024 Botswana and Natal.
Botswana are left to right 56”,52.5”,63 green score.
All free range except 52.5” was a 140 thousand acres fenced property. Didn’t measure Natal probably 47 or 48”. Was an old free range bull, last day, last 5 minutes of light.

I don't know how I missed this thread.

Like a few others have said, kudu was the first thing I dreamed of when I first dreamed of Africa, 40 years ago. So far? 3, and they will likely be a part of any future hunt.

My first, 2021, Marlin MXLR in .338 Marlin Express, 130 yards...

My second, 2021, same rifle, 150 yards; this was a "management" bull...

My third, 2023, Savage 99 in .300 Savage, 210 yards...

My one and only from Northern Limpopo in two thousand fourteen. I don’t even remember the length but he’s not very big.

This is my sons first kudu, he took it in the Eastern Cape in July of 2024, one shot whith his 300WM at 351 yards. Not bad for a 13 year old on his first safari.

I don't know if it's anything to brag about but here is mine from Limpopo, May 2023. They never actually measured it. They just told me it was a nice shooter. If anyone wants to take a shot at it in terms of an estimate, I wouldn't mind. It was my most substantial harvest of any animal so far in my life.

April of [emoji638][emoji640] near Mopane —we shot it together. Something we practiced and got very good at. To say he was over the moon is an understatement Still waiting for the cape to come in from the tannery

I am not exactly the trained eye but for better or worse, the one you took looks like a nicer animal. Very impressive.

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
