New York “Big 5” Trophy Ban Sails Through Committee with Complete Disregard for African Conservation Efforts and Self-Determination

Silly laws. Why can't they focus on actual priorities? It's amazing.

Thanks to OP for passing info along.

I've become cynical enough to be pretty sure these ARE their actual priorities. Make they people they disagree with criminals and you don't have to fight them with facts and logic.

Put these individuals that make the stupid decisions on Trumps list to get rid of.....
Sad, they are state and not Federal

Another bill introduced by the same person would eliminate all propagation of pheasants and ban the release of pheasant in the state.

To take a swipe at @Sabre question. I would think when the USFWS started talking about adding them to either the endangered species list or CITIES appendix I, she thinks it will be an easy target. I think there is one subspecies is in trouble so they want to throw a blanket over the whole species.

I would guess the same thing. And likely fueled by everyone getting mad about that one dark giraffe being shot a while back. The general public is very fickle in what they consider acceptable hunting and what they consider evil hunting.

I will never live in NY and have for years made every effort to avoid ever going there!
This is where crazies and lunatics migrate and those who are "normal" don't seam to
be sane enough to leave and soon will be out numbered!

You should try riding the Subway here or walk through Times Square at night

With President Trump in charge I am sure it will be over ruled. I am Ashamed for all NYers.
Just look at California's ban on the possession of Mountain Lion and Wolverine mounts!

I'm in CT, they passed a "big 6" law here in 2021, (giraffes, both rhinos, elephants, lions and leopards), as mentioned in the article, just before it passed, we were able to get a bit of a carveout added allowing for a permit from the Commissioner, (I will have to ask her if she is granting any). Previously owned trophies are allowed, but it's very similar to this NY Law. I must say, some of us fought this bill hard but got very little support, which is a pattern.

Friends of CT Sportsmen, a Non-Profit some of us started, has been working hard for Sunday Hunting and a Bear Season, (among other things) and the silence we get from the 45,000 CT hunting license holders is deafening. They'll bitch like crazy on Facebook, but they don't testify or write a check.

If anyone is involved in, or starts a Legal Challenge to this NY law, let me know, I'll gladly contribute. It appears that since in many states we are at such a disadvantage; Legislation isn't going to work, we'll have to resort to Litigation!
CT outdoorsman are outnumbered 4 to 1. There is not much chance to change the minds of anyone in legislation.

I have a leopard hunt planned so it will be interesting on getting it back if I get one.

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
