Validating African Hunting Outfitter
I looked up the person’s name in PHASA and I don’t believe it’s there (first initial didn’t match).

There is no rule but 99% of us indroduce ourselves to the other members.
Waidmannsheil Safaris may or may not be the best safari outfitter in South Africa. It is good that you are seeking references prior to sending them any money.
Let me suggest that you consider one of the safari outfitters that sponsor this forum. Why you may ask? If you stay here long enough you will find that the 100,000+ members while very polite, do not tolerate "rude behavior" from man nor beast nor safari outfitter
All joking aside, about every month a new to Africa hunter joins us asking about this or that outfitter. Mostly they won or bought a hunt in an auction and the trophy fees seem high. Hmmm, maybe the fees are high to make up for the outfitter's donation to SCI, DSC, or local organization?
Bottom line is that there are thousands of safari outfitters in South Africa. Of those there are many good outfitters who own the land on which they hunt. There are others who hunt on other's lands. That's not bad but the for me, I like to engage with the land owner. Why, in South Africa the land owner owns the animals which will be hunted. The owner is more likely to treat a good client to something special...

Do yourself a favor and compare whatever the unknown safari outfitter is offering to any of these sponsors. Send the AH sponsor a note or call them for free using the WhatsApp phone application. Trust me, no outfitters would survive on this forum is they try to squeeze every last dollar out of a new client!

Expectations, we all have them. How often are ALL of one’s expectations fulfilled? For me, this was the case in my second hunt with Stuart Williams’ Tally Ho Safaris. Granted, my expectations were realistic based on much research and having hunted with Tally Ho a year prior. My wife tells me that I overthink everything. To that I respond, thinking is my superpower. I plan for the worst and hope for the best!
The background is that I hunted with Stuart and his PH Rudi Nel for four days last year enroute to a Zimbabwe elephant hunt. I came back to Tally Ho because they did everything right...

I had arrived in SA on Sunday evening. We traveled to the Kalahari on Monday, hunted lionesses on Tuesday thru Thursday morning, and drove to Limpopo the remainder of Thursday. (

Then Delta 200 to Johannesburg. Upraded to Delta Comfort and had isle seat on bulkhead row. This made trip more comfortable. There are of course many other outfitters with positive reviews in this forum. I recommend you read, read, and read. Then, reach out to members here. Most will talk via phone to give you details that most short of Tolstoy or Hemmingway are not able to put into written words.
