English, American & European Gun Cases - Loads Of 'em

It's been a while since this post so I thought i'd send out an update. I have 9 cases left, varying from cases that can hold largebore doubles, to 12 bore shotguns, all the way down to a rare new old stock mid-century British 28 bore case. Oh, and a very rare rook rifle case too! The British cases marked Brady are suitable for all best guns. The motor case on the left is specifically a Purdey labeled motor case. The inexpensive cases work great for about anything continental.

@jimmywallstreet In the realm of cases that can fit largebore rifles, I have two candidates remaining.
A.) A circa 1900 english lightweight leather case with traditional English lock. It needs new handle and new straps. The interior is vacant. A case fitter can do a custom fit interior in that case for about $500 based on tracings of your guns barrel, action, and accessories. That case is $500 plus shipping and is the 2nd one from the top in a photo above, directly below a green canvas case. That particular case would have likely had a hammer gun or early hammerless in it when new and can accommodate virtually any length barrel up to 30" plus a doll's head or third bite.
B.) I have a new-old stock English case made by Brady in the mid-century. It's 100% leather. It has two barrel compartments inside and can handle ample accessories being about 35" long. Again, with a custom fitting, that case will handle rifle, scopes, snap caps, etc. A custom fitting runs about $500 and I have a few credible firms I can give you as references you could use for that customization. That case has its original key, perfect handles, straps, etc. Truly rare to find an unused case of that era. That case is tan or medium brown and is $1000 in the pictures above in the middle of a stack of 5 cases.
Those are the only largebore suitable cases I have left in my collection.

Some people ask why they are so much money, but the answer is pretty simple. Rarity. Rook rifles were made for about 25 years, most did not include cases. Shotguns have been made for 150 years as cased items.
I've owned perhaps 150-200 cases as a rough estimate. Of all of those cases, I've only owned 3 rook cases.

2.) A mid-century English made Brady all-leather case with two barrel compartments for a rifle, combination gun, or O/U shotgun. New old stock.

3.) A circa 1900 all leather gutted safari case. Probably originally for a hammer Double rifle. Needs to be blocked and lined internally.

4.) A leg of mutton case for a 12 to 16 bore, or rifle, accommodating about 28” barrels.

5.) A 1930s-1940s English canvas and leather shogun case in olive green. Suitable for a 12 or 16 bore. Indian based retailer’s trade label inside. Mauve Baise internals are a bit rough.

6.) A Spanish/Itailan/French circa 1960 shotgun hard case. Tan ostrich embossed leather exterior. I do not know if it’s real ostrich or not, pricing it assuming it is not. Spacious and would fit a lot of gun types.

7.) Mid-century American all leather hard case. Suitable For target or hunting shotguns with long barrels. Handle needs repair. Otherwise a dandy. (I may have a spare leather handle if someone was inclined to do a repair themselves)

I have a Rigby & WIlson Martini Henry Mk.II trade rifle with a 25.5" barrel. Do you have anything that would potentially fit? Not worried if I have to get it restored or reblocked inside, just a decent foundation to start from.
If your rifle is a take down, PM so we can make a plan. If it’s a full length rifle, I can’t help you and the case is worth more than the rifle itself!
Rookhawk do you have any type of soft case exotic such as elephant or buff skin that my 24 inch barrel Merkle 470 DR NE would fit. If so what price please? This more of a want than need my friend

I just picked up an old English double in need of a case, do you have a few hard cases left? Also are any of the leg o mutton cases still available?
Nope. No 10 bore motor cases. I honestly can’t say that I’ve ever seen a 10 bore motor case, although I’m sure somebody requested one at one point in history for their fowling gun. I do have a leather case above, suitable for a 10 bore that would be turn of the century vintage. You could have it custom fitted by a quality case fitter for about a $450 charge.
