My son inherted a 7 x 61 Sharpe and Hart, a Shulz and Larsen made in Denmark from his grandpa dating from the 1960's. I grew up in the '70's in South Africa and devoured Dr Lucas Potgieter's articles, " Die Boer en sy Roer" (The Boer and his Gun) on hunting and rifles. I remember his reference to the " hell-ted belted " calibers and believe the 7x 61 was one of the first. Shulz and Larsen discontinued the 7x 61 with the rise of the cheaper American 7 mm's. Fortunately my son inherited around 800 Norma rounds, some brass and reloading dies. It would be interesting if some of the older guys had some experience with the 7x61. For interest' sake I add some images and ballistics.
From left to right: 375 H&H, 7x61 Super, 9.3 x 62 Mauser and .270 Winchester. Cartridges I own for comparison not necessarily competitors.
154 grain Norma's
Shulz and Larsen 7x61 mm S&H with Simmons 2.5 - 10 x 50 Optics
Still an accurate shooter @ 100 yards. Sonny needs to adjust his scope setting but says he knows where to aim when hunting.
Right 375 H&H CZ 550 compared to Schulz and Larsen 7 x 61 also controlled feed action marginally shorter than the CZ 550 magnum action. Note the gas ports in the action. Very smooth action as well.

Well this then my first post on AH. Hope I did not bore anyone.
