    Obsolete cartridges

I have 2 8x57 I, one slugs .318 the other slugs .321. The .318 requires .318 bullets the .321 shoots .323 with no problem. The way to find out if your I bore will shoot .323 safely is to fire a .318 round in it, if a .323 bullet slips freely into the fired case, no worry. Many of the .318 bore...

I don't have a system Stecherspanner, I have a second System Ideal that has been barreled to 6mm Krag, it is the reinforced action and would make a great 9.3x74 I...

    Why not a Single Shot?

I also love single shots. I have a Ruger#1v in 25-06 that has accounted for many Kansas whitetails. I am particularly fond of German falling block single shots, like the one pictured, it is a 8.15x46r, but I have seen this style action chambered in 9.3x74r, I hope to find one at a price &...

Do German's just do it best?

My primary interest in German rifles are schuetzen offhand target rifles. I have a dozen or so. I do have 4 hunting rifles, 2 8x57i Mauser sporters and 2 Mannlicher Schoenauers, one 243 and one 9.5x57. The Mannlichers are of course Austrian. I shoot all of the schuetzen rifles, 200 meter...
