What cartridge would you choose for hunting Bull Moose in Canada?

Aside from the cartridge , consider how you will get the harvest out !!! I saw a video of 4 Brit hunters overlooking the giant moose one of them killed in Canada. They were all standing there stymied as to how they were going to get it out . No joke- very stymied and totally dismayed ! I found...

    Would you be happy?

I doubt anyone’s ego would be bruised compared to how bad their body would be bruised ( or worse)were a guide not to.

What did you get yourself for Christmas?

One gets to see some real beautiful firearms on this forum. I wish I didn’t have other financial priorities. I always got to work extra hard just to get basic deluxe rifles. It’s good to see some folks having fine firearms. Happy and safe shooting.

It’s truly a blessing when you can say what you have said. God bless you and yours.

Thoughts on "entry level" .375 H&H

Don’t have any experience with Weatherby. Although the wood stocks look beautiful. I may be wrong but the 9 lug design is for their proprietary cartridges. All over bore. I not a big fan of over bore cartridges. I suppose for a Weatherby one can make an exception. I’ve also read they aren’t all...

    Any boxing fans?

One’s got to figure those early days had tough fighters. I wasn’t around in the 30s and born in 61’. And yes I was going to mention Hagler and Hearns before , Duran , Aaron Pryor, Alexis Arguelo, Sugar Ray Leonard. Don’t forget , Foreman,Ernie Shavers , Ken Norton, and Ron Lyle in the...

Thoughts on "entry level" .375 H&H

Yeah I should have never screwed around with it. There was a time I would have scopes installed by others. Once I did my own I taught myself to field strip my AR and all hand guns and such. It emboldened me to start taking apart bolts for periodic deep cleans, but primarily more accurate...

Thoughts on "entry level" .375 H&H

As for Winchester model 70. They are letting way too much crap out of the factory these days to take a chance. The quasi controlled/ push feed with claw extractor was a step in the right direction. But fit and finish and machining marks on barrels, etc. just aren’t worth the chance. I looked at...

Thoughts on "entry level" .375 H&H

For entry level the Ruger .375 guide rifle might be a good choice. Iron sights, muzzle brake and laminate stock look really sweet too. I love that look. Good luck in your decision.

Thoughts on "entry level" .375 H&H

My browning AB2 (essentially the same rifle), has been a bit dissatisfying. Taking apart the bolt is bad. Putting it back together can get to be a small task. I think I chewed up the firing pin washer reassembling it. Midwest gunworks may not have the replacement for my caliber. I’ll have to get...

That was good era for boxing. I too strayed away for similar reasons over the years.

Happy Holidays to Everyone on AH

You have to so you can avoid going through a list of the various holidays for all the different religions. That’s what Happy Holidays is for. If it weren’t for liberals we wouldn’t feel the need to make an excuse; or force ourselves to say Merry Christmas for the push back. But do what I say...

What did you get yourself for Christmas?

I went light this year because last year I upgraded reloading equipment. It was no small expense. The foster co-ax I got new and with a good discount for the holiday. The K & M mandrels, pin gauges , arbor press and turning tools gave me sticker shock ! Plus all the other nifty tool upgrades...
