I load with 80 Grains of H4350 and get an average velocity of 2210 in my rifle. I personally don't need to load it up to 2300 fps. The difference on game is negligible. For me anywhere in that range and find the load for accuracy.

Coming in at a towering 5'5" I had my 404 built with a 23" barrel. That is as short as Reto Buehler recommended for a 404 while still allowing proper balance and handling.
Obviously I went with a slightly shorter barrel because with a 24" or longer barrel they end up stuck in the mud.

Thanks for the detailed info on Peregrine bullets. This is the kind of quality information I have been looking for. I have some .308 diameter bullets and have a strong urge to use them in my 404.
