    Model 70 Alaskan stock question.....

Of the several little annoyances with my Portugal assembled Model 70 Alaskan, one that begs for understanding is the angled stock relief at the action's loading/ejection port. My Alaskan is in 30-06, and the angled relief extends well to the rear of the rear receiver ring's front. It is...

    Current model 70 receiver bridges

Does anyone know if the current Model 70 "long action", and the "magnum long action" have the same receiver bridges? I'm wondering why they'd put .860 spacing on the non magnum, and .330 spacing on the magnum screw holes.

    Scope for Win70 in 375

Thought I'd add..... Despite all the "entry level" comments - all very valid for those who made 'em - I find that the Leupold VX Freedom 1.5-4x20 is just fine, for _my_ purposes. For hunting here in very, very south FL, nothing more is needed. As I stated earlier, should I go out west or...

And finally, the end of the saga, for this rifle at least. While not thrilled, I am happy with the way it turned out. Haven't fit a pad in... oh... since about '95 or so. Nearly 30 years. What I am thrilled about is the "right there" image through the scope. Set to 1.5x (or 4x for that...

    Show Us Your Hunting Knife

Well, if you insist... just a quick shot on a natty bedspread...... The other knife is a Tops Knives Kukuri 7 (their spelling). I have a love hate relationship with it. Its nice for a camp tool, but only to a point. Too heavy. Handle is atrocious - you either choke up and get control, but...

    Show Us Your Hunting Knife

Nuthin' to write home about, very modest, but it holds an edge and the scales are removable (to get the goo out from under). I like the strike edge at the rear, have used it! Also like the radius on the spine and full tang. Very comfy. The symmetry of the grinds are perfect, edge to shave...

Just a little update: Pad arrived, spacer arrived. Jig FOUND!!!!! I put the spacer between the existing pad and stock to try for length. Perfection. That's the good news. Bad news is not that bad. Gotta flatten the pad, it meanders about by .020 or so. I doubt I'll be able to get it to...

375 H&H primed brass at Grafs

Just saying the primed price, with lrm primers is the same price as unprimed.... a savings. I see RR lowered the price since I looked. Good deal there too!

375 H&H primed brass at Grafs

They've got 375H&H Norma made brass with Barnes headstamp, primed, for about $45 - no hazmat on primed brass by the way. Considering right now large rifle magnum primers are pretty hard to get and expensive, it seemed like a decent deal.

SXS shot gun am I wanting something that doesnt exist

Well, I know that :giggle: . It's just that there's a difference between what _can_ be done if need be, and what is purposefully designed to be done regularly. I dunno why the shotgunners insist two triggers means "English" stock.

SXS shot gun am I wanting something that doesnt exist

Very true on double rifles. My brain is in shotgun mode on double triggers, and all those upland guys and side by side guys insist double triggers mean straight stock so your hand can just slide backwards a little and hit the rear. I've only ever shot double rifle a few times maybe half a...

Two triggers and a grip stock can be a odd to shoot. Maybe a Prince of Wales type rather than straight?

I took a moment to remove the pad from the Safari Express stock. Pachmayr 752B, which is the "Old English" Decelerator pad. It has 3.125" hole spacing, 1" thickness, and its ground size where it meets the stock is 1.75" x 5.187. Naturally larger at the heel and toe. This would require size...
