Heading to SA in 4 days....last minute tips?

That is a great deal. Was it an employee of the outfitter that filmed? Did they do a good job for you? A lot of places that do it, that aren't tied to the outfitter charge a daily rate, travel expenses, and you cover their daily observer fee with the outfitter for the duration of your...

    Question regarding capes

Did the person at coppersmith say why? Is there some new rule where all unfinished animal products have to go to USDA tannery?

Heading to SA in 4 days....last minute tips?

In regards to the professional filming of the hunt. The thing that keeps me from doing this, although I really like the idea is the price. On a 10 day trip you could be looking at $7,000 or more for the film. I think it is really cool, and if you have that extra money to spend and it is...

I can see that. I know some people who have told me they don't like the Euro mounts and prefer the shoulder mounts I have. I personally like Euro mounts somewhat equally to shoulder mounts. So, after I got quite a few shoulder mounts, I started wishing I had some more Euro mounts. And...

Any love for the federal terminal ascent?

Was waiting to see how they worked out for you. Glad they do so well in your gun. I hope you have fantastic luck with them when hunting. They have been great for me so far. Hopefully that continues.

What I decided to do with my Backskins

It will sort of depend. Some dip and pack charge per item, like skull, cape, back skin. Some charge one flat fee per animal no matter what you keep. I like to keep the back skins because I figure at some point I will have a slow year of hunting and I will get something made of the back...

Horns Drying Out, Cracking, and Splitting

Wow! That is quite a split. It looks like a triangle chunk is missing out of there. Is it possible that is split down two vertical edges and a large piece came out?

On the extra animals: I'm sure you sense a theme here from people. And that is to be prepared and budget for extra animals. As someone else mentioned, if you look at the cost of going back, it is much cheaper to shoot an extra animal or two and add to a trip, than to plan an entire extra trip...

Horns Drying Out, Cracking, and Splitting

One thing I wonder about with Euro mounts, since so many of the treatments have oil in them or are oil based, if it would eventually bleed into the skull and discolor. Like you see on some older firearms where the oil from cleaning the metal parts has gone into the stock.
