I went to Africa last year and as I have always known I have some color deficiencies. When I am whitetail hunting I hunt a lot in fields so I have never had an issue like I did there. My number 1 animal was a Kudu. I could not see them in the cover. I felt like an idiot. The PH would say...
Yeah I’ve been watching that gun. To many options. So good points made to just find a 375. I have a custom 45-70 with suppressor I would like to take for my other animals. For no other reason than I love the gun!
I’m actually looking at 375’s. Big bore in general are a tough find. I am going to bare foot safaris. I don’t go till June of 26. I just want to get it so I can be very comfortable with whatever gone I take.
I have experience with 45-70. That was initially what I was planning on using. After a lot of input I want to use a little more gun. No need to make a dangerous hunt more dangerous.
My next trip to Africa I want to take a Cape buffalo. I really want the weatherby with brake but that isn’t looking good. Ruger makes a 416 that looks good in the guide or Hawkeye. Would like some input. Don’t kill me or make it to complicated. I arrived at the 416 weatherby from someone...
Would love this but going to dinner with the owners of the safari we went to in July.
I am new in here. Are the members here entirely hunters? I am really getting into this. I have only been on 1 trip but was so impressed we’re going down there to see them at SCI and already booked again...
I get the danger. If ph would have said no I would have been out with using it! He say right load with proper shot it will work. Any thoughts on the other animals with it that round
. I’m thinking the 400 because it has a little more energy and similar velocity up close. I wanted to talk to someone about this thought and also. If I should take the 300 for the other animals. I don’t want to destroy them. Not much of a chance of +100 yards where I’m going.
I’m going back to Africa next year. I’m taking my 45-70. My ph likes the Barnes ammo. Looking at the 2 weights 300or 400. My ph says to pick which works best. I’m not noticing a difference in accuracy. My primary animal is the cape with extras being wildebeest and a gemsbok
