I bought mine because of the 2 sets of barrels. I have no complaints but I much prefer my vintage Jeffrey 450-400 and Manton 470. They just feel better in my hands.
I have a Chapuis 9.3x74 SxS with a set of 20 gauge barrels of similar vintage. My load is 58 gr IMR 4350 with 286 Swift A-Frame. Used it on giraffe last year.
Depending on which books you are reading, you may be reading about a time and place that no longer exists. No matter where you go you will never experience the Africa of Hemingway and Ruark.
Rather your safari is a hunt, or a shoot depends on you and your PH. You will not be able to spot and...
The list is long and distinguished but the one I despise above all others is Elliot Management. That is the Paul Singer hedge fund that forced the sale of Cabela’s to bASS pro.
I have never shot a Hartebeest but I have killed everything on your list with Barnes TSX. Jackal and Springbok to Cape Buffalo, I have used TSX with complete satisfaction.
My 7mm Remington magnum in a 700 classic has served me well since 1983. I currently use the Barnes 160 TSX. In the past I also used 140 Nosler bullets. This rifle now gets less use as I am a unrepentant rifle addict but it has killed more game than any other I own.
Longest shot I have taken with 9.3x62 was Jackal at 250 yards. DRT. Longest with 375 H&H was Cape Kudu 275 yards. DRT. Longest with 416 Rigby Cape Buffalo 50 Yards. Fastest kill I have seen on a Buffalo.
I would be comfortable to 300 with all with a good rest off sticks. I prefer powder burn close.
As I have expressed before, I am a firm believer in Barnes bullets, the TSX in particular. Since first using them in 2008, I have had zero problems/failures with them. I have shot animals from Jackal to Buffalo with them and my confidence in them is immense.
I am also an advocate for accuracy...
7x57/275 Rigby. No recoil to speak of. 175 grain round nose was instant death on waterbuck, kudu, steenbok, impala, duiker and blesbok. 100 to 300 yards. Also killed a camel thorn tree that I could not see a branch of on a waterbuck.
