I want to be the hunter of old. I want to read the puzzled signs left by game. I want to slowly walk through the woods, and through my skills, not technology, be a successful hunter. If this means I am less successful in the number of kills or the trophy size of my kills, I willing accept this; for as Gasset put it, I want to be the hunter who, “…conquer(s) the surly brute through his own effort and skill with all the extras that carries with it: the immersion in the countryside, the healthfulness of exercise, the distraction from his job, and so on and so forth.”
