Speer Grand Slams from Speer bullets

Well I don't know why but this photo will only load upside down for me.

Speer Grand Slams from Speer bullets

@shark_za, The 6.5mm Speer Grand Slam bullets have a single composition lead core installed using the Hot-Cor process, so they are the same design as current 6.5mm Speer Grand Slam bullets. Here's a table from the 2000 Speer catalog. The text in italics above the table in the photo confirms this.

Speer Grand Slams from Speer bullets

My Speer Reloading Manual #13 says the .243 & .257 diameter Speer Grand Slam bullets never were manufactured with two lead cores, and I've seen some other information that was also the case with the 6.5mm Speer Grand Slam bullets. It would be interesting if you could section one of those 6.5mm...

Speer Grand Slams from Speer bullets

That packaging is typical of the second generation Speer Grand Slam bullets, with two different composition lead cores and a partial internal ring of jacket material at the front of the rear core, with the front core installed by the Hot-Cor process. Left to right in this picture is typical...

    My 280 Remington

Can you post up the link from Norma saying this 7X64mm 160 grain Tipstrike ammo published MV = 890 m/s is based on 26" barrel, and chamber details? The Geco info for their 7X64mm 155 grain Express ammo specifically details a 600 mm test barrel length directly along with the BC value and shows...

    My 280 Remington

Here's where I responded I had the appropriate rifle and ammunition having done my part. You appear to have an extremelyshort memory and / or unwilling to read your own posts, addressed specifically to me, but they're all right here. Absolutely untrue. I posted that Norma (never all...

    Ballistic Tips

Thanks Chris! Both those sectioned bullets don't only have a jacket profile different from each other, but also from a sectioned bullet seen in some photographs of vintage bullets, both recovered and alongside a sectioned unfired example. I'm guessing the bullet displayed in the center of these...

    My 280 Remington

bruce, And I still have no good reason to purchase a chronograph. And it's equally clear there's no way to determine your version of projectile BC if you never purchase the projectiles. Only what the manufacturer publishes is thus available. Hmmm . . . We're back to waiting for you to send...

And now I know. In this area with the coriolis force providing spin in the opposite direction the typical convention among those with one or more such advanced education or medical certification the last name is given with the title. It shouldn't be too difficult for me to keep @Dr Ray...

    My 280 Remington

bruce, Purchase some Norma .280 Remington ammunition loaded with that same 7mm 160 grain Tipstrike projectile. Then report back on what your BC-O-Meter determines and what muzzle velocity your chrono shows firing from your beloved .280 Remington rifle. That can be cross-referenced to the values...

    Ballistic Tips

Bob, See my posts on page 2 of this thread. https://www.africahunting.com/threads/experience-with-nosler-accubonds.54877/page-2#post-638861 What I'm still a little lost on is whether the initial Nosler Ballistic Tip bullets that also had Solid Base on the label are the "early" ones that often...
