  • Mike, I'm a new member to the African Hunting network and I've seen your notes along with some of your comments about African Hunting on The African Hunting network and even thou I've never hunted in Africa, I am anticipating an African hunt within the next year and I plan on taking my Ole .300 H&H Winchester Pre ' 64 magnum along with my CZ 550 .416 Rigby to see if I may take a few plains game along with a couple or three "DG" animals" during my stay in Africa. So far I do not have any countries nor outfitters chosen for this Safari , so I am asking for your input for both outfitters and countries as well as what plains game I should hunt and what DG animals I should seek on this first Safari that I hope should last 18 to 21 days! I am interested in an elephant (bull with about 70 lbs tusks) and a DugaBoy with at least 45 inch Bosses and at least 5 different plains game ( maybe 7) included in the 1st Safari! I will be interested in your in recommendations and a suggestion on bullets & and weight for my .416 Rigby! I usually use 450 Gr Woodleigh solids and 410 Gr Woodleigh softs in my .416 Rigby and I handload my .300 H&H Pre-64 Winchester Model 64 from 165 gr to 230 gr using Barnes,Nosler,Burger,Hornady and Swift bullents. I have been using my Pre 64 for over 50 years for all my hunting in the US and Canada so I am VERY GOOD at using this firearm, but have only used the .416 Rigby for shooting targets using factory ammo from 350gr to 450 gr so far. Anyway, I would be glad to hear from you and your experiences with Africa hunting!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
