Lots of really sound advise given. Obviously, JimP is the sharpest of the bunch. Who said you only get one rifle ? Seriously look at Blaser rifles. Been hunting with them for about 20 years and the baggage gorillas haven't stolen one or damaged one yet.

That's what I remember. I once used a 22/250 with 60 grain Nosler bullets to shoot a deer in the Kerrville area of Texas. We were out hunting varmints when a nice 10 point walked out at about 70 yards. I did it, once. When better cartridges are available, why ?
