I love them both, however, Sureshot375 nailed it when he said “When it comes to the role of a client, whose primary job is to get the first shot right, a double is a disadvantage.”
I’m a big fan of Norma Oryx bullets for plains game. A 300. gr. Oryx is perfect for everything up to, but excluding, Cape buffalo. The only downside is, like a lot of durable lead core bullets, the bc is pretty low. But then again, this is hunting not sniping and the whole point is to get as...
I could use some load data if you have it handy. I’ll be shooting 400gr. A-frames and 430 gr Northfork SS and CupPoints, but whatever you have would be helpful.
I have a couple of questions for the .416 Hoffman owners out there. Do you notice reduced velocity or accuracy issues when you shoot .416 Rem Mag ammo through your gun? Anyone had reliability issues when doing so? Also, given the rarity of brass headstamped .416 Hoffman, would you be worried...
I agree with the OP when he says, the .375 is not a "magic bullet." I would argue there are no magic calibers/bullets--only suitable calibers and bullets and good shot placement. A .375 H&H is adequate, as is a .300 Win. Mag. or a 7x57.
One thing that often catches my ear in a discussion like...
I have the opportunity to buy a Chapuis Elan Classic and wanted to know from people who actually own a Chapuis what your experience has been. There are lots of posts on this forum ranking the DR's, and yes, I have read many times that Heym has descended straight from heaven where it was crafted...
It’s never been a problem for me. If it adds any time, it’s probably no more than a minute or so. I figure by the time I undo 4 locks on my Pelican 1750 vs the one lock on my Tuffpak, it’s a wash.
The one thing I like about the Pelican-style case is you can see all your gear laid out in...

After the rebate, it’s about $120/ box. If you can live with Trophy Bonded Bearclaws, Midway has them for about $90 after the rebate.
Yes, I would have no problem with a DGX if I couldn’t get an A-Frame or TBBC. Hornady addressed the problems with that bullet quite a while ago. It’s interesting how hard it has been for them to shake the bad connotations, though.
My party just returned from a trip to South Africa and as MacJenkins said, CBP was only concerned with the 4457 (listing only firearms) and matching firearms serial numbers. They couldn’t have care less about the suppressors. It’s like they didn’t exist for them.
