You are absolutely correct. This ad featured in several gun magazines. The hunter was Frank Delano and the Gorilla was shot in Gabon for a Museum in Los Angeles. The story of this hunt is in the August 1963 Issue of "Sports Afield".

If you are from the US, you may have access to some old copies of "Sports Afield". Frank Delano hunted in French Equatorial Africa and wrote some articles for this magazine (late 1950s / early 1960s, if i'm correct). You will also like the stories of Elgin Gates, who hunted with Jack O'Connor...
