Hate is a strong word but for years I stayed away from belted magnums. When I was younger I read somewhere (don't remember where) about belted magnums having case head separation problems. I now have a 300 WM, 375 H&H, and a 416 rem mag, so i guess I'm over it.

i have my 375 topped with a vx 5 2-10 power and QD mounts i couldn't be happier. You are correct the ballistics with lighter 250-270 GR bullets make it great out to ~300YDS, and going down to 2 power is great for close in work as well.
