I'll pile on the bandwagon and say 300BO isn't a great choice...just use a bigger cartridge if you're using a bigger gun.
I was around when AAC developed the cartridge for a military requirement, and that requirement as improved lethality over the MP5-SD in a similar sized platform that had a...
I agree that a Savage isn’t a Blaser and if you’re a Blaser fan you’ll cringe on the surface.
I’ve been really impressed with the Impulse. I went to a writer’s event at my old job and Savage was next to us. I shot a couple dozen rounds thru them and was very impressed with the accuracy (Savage...
I think it's great for people who can't or won't buy a Blaser. I'm already invested in R8s, so I don't have the need but for $1899 MSRP for the carbon barrel version it's certainly more appealing than $6K for a Blaser with a threaded barrel. It has some really nice features and the ones I shot...
I’m with everyone else in the camp of saying “no” to rounds between the fingers. I don’t want to compromise my firing grip, and I think it’s a marginal time saver at best.
- Will the cartridges stay oriented after firing?
- Can you maintain a grip if you have to shoot in a sub-optimal...
These are such great guns. I have a 416 Rigby with the hideous front sight ramp, I certainly like the barrel band on yours much better. There isn't a better gun on Earth for $7500 in this category, I would imagine it will go quick.
These are excellent guns, and really well made. Like a lot of European manufacturers they're not great at getting the word out but they are a bargain. Good luck with your sale, someone will be getting a very nice rifle.

These are excellent guns, and the price is right. If you’re not dead set on a wood stock it would be a good one.
I’d buy that 375 Ruger in the classifieds for $1k and shoot another buffalo!
A bunch of us troll the sales forums and shops on a daily basis…we know what your budget isn’t, but what is it?
I'm a firm believer that a sub-caliber trainer of some sort is a good idea. Find a .223 Ruger M77 or the closest thing you can to your rifle and shoot the crap out of it. Everything but the recoil management translates, which if you have proper fundamentals (i.e. follow thru in this case) and a...
I come at this from a different perspective than many hunters.
I spent 16 years in our special operations forces during the GWOT. When we weren't conducting operations we were training on a wide variety of tasks. Train train train...do do it for real....then right back to an endless training...
