A Proper Double Rifle fit for a Dangerous Game Hunting PH

Beautiful rifle and a classic cartridge.

    9.3x62

I tend to agree, the 9.3X62 really is about the perfect cartridge for up here in the Rocky Mountains. I took mine for a walk yesterday, pretty spooky not seeing a flake of snow in the mountains of northwest Montana in mid December. I was doing a bunch of calling for wolves, never saw or heard...

    Good Gun Deals This Week

FYI Not sure how much of a "good deal" it is but on Saturday I saw this Win 70 Safari in .375HH on consignment at the Sportsmans Ski-Haus in Kalispell Montana. Rifle and stock are very clean. No rear sight on barrel though.

    Question from a first timer

Take three times as many photos as you think you need, particularly everyday activities, not just grinning dead animal shots. And bring a journal that you write in throughout the day and at the end of every evening.

Ethics Test by the Hunting Gods

I was floating a large river here in Northwest Montana in my drift boat. The general hunting season was on and I had tags and guns with me. As I came around a curve in the river I saw something swimming. As I got closer I saw that it was a very large black bear. We were on a collision path and...

    Sabatti 450NE opinion

Brand new 2011 Cabelas Sabatti .450NE, Zim, Hornady factory solids, only used once..... Now 14yrs later and (many years ago) fitted with a custom rear aperture sight made by Sam Rose, carried hundreds of miles till the barrel blueing has worn bare. Lots of small dings in the wood. I trust...

    9.3x62

I have been packing it every afternoon on my walks. I am really starting to love this rifle and plan on keeping it "as is" with open sights. I am going to get a green fiber optic front sight for easier/faster target acquisition. There's just a little to much naturally occurring background...

    Pay It Forward-Free

Comment by 'jcs271' in media 'Black Wolf Hunt'

I was specifically mouth calling for wolves. I've shot quite a few but this was my first black one . Wolves and occasionally bears and mountain lions are about the only thing I have any interest hunting here in North America. I have not shot a deer or elk in many years.

    USA: Deer & Double Rifles

Of course just to have fun, you could always speak in a very sophisticated tone and tell folks that it's chambered in 7.6 X 63. Then watch their eyes get really big as they ponder using suching a fancy rifle and exotic cartridge on whitetail deer. :)

    Scope for .416 Ruger?

You will be very happy with it, I also have the same scope in 2x12 on my 300 Winchester and it's given me great service over the last 4 or 5 years

New lipsey's ruger alaskan bush rifle in 9.3x62 and 35 whelen

Are you set on that load or have you tried a few? I am wondering how a standard 286gr load would regulate?

New lipsey's ruger alaskan bush rifle in 9.3x62 and 35 whelen

I finally got some ammo today. Four boxes of 286 grain PPU. Shot like a dream, function was excellent. I am really considering keeping this strictly open sights for use as my dog walking, and hiking rifle. I was pounding 3 of my 10" steel plates as fast as I could work the bolt just doing some...
