The 9.3's and 375's are all perfectly adequite.
For a buffalo bovine only rifle it would be 404 Jeff or 416 Rigby. I prefer the 404. Jeff.
The 400 H&H is a very intriguing caliber and has wonderful balistics but I think ammo may be an issue.
Between the fingers is a pain in the butt...

Are you just topping up one barrel or both?
Solid and softs only or are you combining?
Speed loaders work but need to be practiced....
I put two cartridges in the palm of my weak hand and reload from there....
I would not be concerned about it for an African safari......just remove, brush and lightly oil when needed....unless it is a non african proven action in which case I would not use it.....

Weight means nothing if fit and balance are absent.....

They are all welcome to arrive with a 500 NE or a 500 Jeff as long as they can shoot them compitantly.....
The reality is most cant and most also want to travel with 1 rifle for a mixed dg and pg rifle caliber and none fits the bill better than the 375.....rather simole mathematics. Most dont...
