    Not to be persnickety... Micrometers are most often used for diameters. Calipers are usually reserved for lengths. Top is a caliper, bottom is a micrometer.

    Museum of Natural History, Chicago, IL. I went there often when I was younger and lived in Chicago. The elephants, lions and dinosaurs were awe-inspiring to me as a child. More so when I had to draw them as an aspiring design student...
