    Hunting Southern Alabama

Yeah it is frustrating as I had some good pistol coaching courses lined up as well. I can see the intent behind it but having someone sign an agreement saying they won't buy/use firearms won't stop some nutter or AQ supporter go on to commit an act of terrorism. Hopefully I can make it to...

Many thanks, I've heard the game fishing down south is excellent. It is certainly on my bucket list to check it out!

I believe it is just in the job role I am coming over with, but stipuated by the US gov. If I had been coming over on holiday there would be no such restriction

Gov, I believe it was introduced after a foreign military student shot a number of people in Pensacola a few years ago. @sureshot375 that is a very kind offer. I may have to take you up on that if I can't find any deer around AL.

Ah, welcome to Australian firearms bureaucracy.... Unfortunately I had to sign an agreement that I wouldn't purchase or use a firearm outside of work whilst over there.

    Hunting Southern Alabama

I'm fortunate enough to be working in Alabama for five months later this year and figured I'd make the most of hunting an new country whilst there. Unfortunately I'll not be able to use a firearm, so it would all be bow hunting. Can anyone give me an idea of what the public land and wildlife...

Was this with iron sights or scoped?

    Merkel 141

I'm considering purchasing a Merkel 141 in 9.3x74r, however I am sceptical about the weight of the rifle (~3kg) in such a calibre. Has anyone shot this rifle in 9.3x74r before and if so, how was the handling and recoil? Or would I be better off waiting for a Merkel 140 (4.6kg) to come up on...

    Regulation question

I suspect you are talking about the same rifle I inspected last week; the staff claimed it had been regulated but I was dubious for the same reasons as yourself. It also didn't have a third bite or cross bolt. I called Paul Roberts of J. Roberts and Son, who gave me a pretty good rundown on the...

Thanks for the reply and great effort! I'd hate to drop something only to see all the meat go to waste.

    Meat Recovery - NT

I've recently moved up to the NT and am intending on trying my luck for some buff or scrub bull in the the BCH areas this season. I have my rifle, my 4x4 and my BCH certification all squared away however I am somewhat concerned about my ability to recover the meat of any animal I may get. Short...

    CZ Safari Classics II

Yes mate from Clayton as well. You are right it is a nice rifle, I put a VX-3 1.5-5 on with Talleys as well. I also had a bit of work done on the bedding and when I get the time I will replace the recoil pad with something nicer.

    Seating primers/Seller and Bellott

I use a Hornady hard primer with S&B brass for my 6.5x55 and have the same issues with tight primers (Federal and Remington), although they have never been mis-seated. If you can find S&B primers they are apparently fractionally smaller and will seat more easily.
