EBaker, my plane lands in San Angelo tomorrow at 4pm…I’ll Take the three boxes for the ranch! If I miss you drop at Ranger Aviation! If not, no big- just taking you up on the Christmas offer!
RB, I have found Big Game powder, coupled with a drop tube, when reloading, to be a game changer with the 9.3x62 loads. I got very similar results! That cartridge is absolutely addicting in its versatility and lack of recoil. Happy for you!
Wanting to buy Talley Scope Rings for CZ 550, LOW or MEDIUM height, 1” Diameter. Talley only makes one height, now, for the CZ 550, which is tall. Looking to buy good shape, lower height rings.
Finishing a hunt in Zim, tomorrow.. all I’m telling you is what I experienced first hand. My bother and I used our 9.3x62 exclusively. I used 286g A Frames (hand loads hopped up pretty stiff w Big Game powder) and 320g Woodleigh solids, shooting same spot. I was almost all one shot kills on (2)...
Two more classic planes in my past…1953 Supercub (with blown seal in AK at 8 degrees) and 1977 Cessna 185 (both wheels and floats). Better era machines for sure!
My daily driver- when we had camp in AK, the Immortal Beaver! I miss those days, and this old girl. Always brought us home- but more than once I was wondering! My favorite of all the planes I’ve owned and flown.
Handloading (esp the .450 NE) is the joy of my hunting journey. Both work. Ammo, built by my own research and hands, is 10x more satisfying in the end, to me. Have fun!!
