I’ve found S&B to be largely good ammo and generally pretty consistent which, given the price point, is a credit to them. However, despite that consistency, their bullet choice and associated construction would not make it an ideal bed fellow when facing DG…..which is a shame as they really do...

I usually take my .375H&H double with iron sights for a couple of warthog/impala/sprinbok prior to buffalo. Compared to buffalo which, although very tense, are generally not particularly challenging shots, I love the smaller stuff. FN

To be honest, for me, every hunt is about enjoying everything; every sense heightened, every sighting analysed, every gust of wind checked, every approach calculated, every extraction considered, every campfire enjoyed. This is the 9/10 soul food. The freezer fill is the 1/10. FN

Surely for most of us it’s where the first shot lands from a cold gun, off sticks or nestling against a tree. I really don’t recall ever bench rest shooting anything. FN

First was about 60, second around 80, third about 35. I always shoot a couple of warthogs or impala with my double before going for the buffalo. The shots are usually around the 80 mark and work really well to both ‘get the eye’ in and increase one’s confidence should a longer shot be...
