    8x68s velocity

Love the 8x68. I’ve had good results using VVN550 or RL16 with the 180gr TSX. Haven’t messed with 200gr bullets. For 220gr and 250gr bullets Alliant’s 4000MR works well.

.375H&H Barrel length… what say you?

If it shoots well, leave it alone. If not then adjust your load or find some different ammo that it does shoot well. If you must have a suppressor on it then rebarrel it or better yet build a new rifle.

    Mediums that perform

I don’t know, Jack Parr, Johnny Carson's predecessor was truly great.

416 Rigby loads with Northfork CUP points, how hot is hot enough?

I too have a CZ550 in .416 Rigby. My load for the 400gr North Fork SS was 94.5gr RL 22 @ 3.65”oal getting around 2370fps. The North Fork CPS was 93.5gr of RL 22 @ 3.66”oal getting around 2240fps. Primers were GM215M for both. Both shot just under MOA at 100yds. I have only shot paper with it so far.

    Mediums that perform

I like the .375H&H a lot and think it is probably the best all around Medium Bore. As for other Medium Bores I like the 8mm’s the most. I have a few 8x57is' and a 8x57irs, a 325wsm, a 8x68s and a 8mm Rem Mag. The 8 Rem Mag is my goto. The 9.3x62 is another favorite. I don’t have any .338...

    Binos for Africa

This is my take on binoculars for a Safari in Africa. Disclaimer, I have only been to Africa twice and both times in Namibia, in the month of June. First, you don’t need them, Your PH will spot and range game so why add extra stuff. But if you want them, then I think the better way to approch...

    9.3x62

Dang I am late to this thread. I like many of you have a affinity for 9.3x62 and believe it is much more capable than allowed. It seems the authorities, like most authorities like to be official, especially when it involves the regulations written by the beaurocrates. Must be some kind of power...

Best All Around Caliber for Plains Game

While the .300wm is probably the most popular, practical get the job done caliber, it is not my favorite. I much prefer the non magnum calibers for PG 300yds and closer. I also prefer to hunt in areas where shots will be under 200 yds +/-. I think most of the non magnum calibers 7mm to 9.3mm...

    7x57 factory ammo

Nosler’s ammo with 140gr Accubond shoots very well in my Nosler M48 7x57 rifle. I have not tried their E-Tip.

RE: FIREARMS FOR A FARMER IN TANZANIA

The 8x68s is a really good caliber but I too would be surprised if there would be a sustainable supply of ammunition for it. A Blaser BD14 might be of interest. It’s a Bock Drilling. It comes in 20ga. and either .222 or 22 Hornet and 30-06 or 9.3x74. But they are a little pricey. I wonder if it...

    PLAINS GAME CALIBER

My first Safari I took my 8mm Rem Mag and 200gr TSX. Second Safari .375H&H with 300gr TSX. Both were excellent but I have changed bullets to 198gr and 299gr Hammer bullets respectfully. For the next Safari I am thinking 8x68s with 250gr Woodleigh RNSN or 8x57 with 180gr Hammer bullets for...
