    South Texas Nilgai hunt

Just took a nice bull 2 weeks ago, just north of Raymondville. Used a 30.06 with a Barnes 180 gr. bullet. 87 yd. broadside shot and got a pass through. Travelled 31 yds and dropped. Shot placement is the key. Same aim point as African plains game.

    Hunt expectations, how many animals?

I think I read in a Boddington book ~ 1 animal per 1 1/2 days. I have found this to be true bow hunting.

    Any cool shops in Johannesburg?

There are nice shops in the airport that would probably satisfy your needs. Also your outfitter would probably know some nice roadside shop traveling to and from your hunting concession. I don’t advise traveling around J’burg - it’s a dangerous place. I would land and get to bush as soon as...

Why did you buy a 6.5 Creedmoore?

Three reasons: 1. accuracy 2. low recoil, especially with a muzzle brake 3. wide selection of ammo (brands and bullet weights)

    Bowhunting Bushbuck

I killed a nice nyala 20minutes into the first day of a hunt. Outfitter told me if I had patience there was a nice bushbuck in the area. About 2:30 that afternoon this buck and a doe came into my waterhole. He presented me with a broadside shot and it was over.

Corey Mason moves on to Wild Sheep Foundation

This thread reminds me of Socrates advice- “ In Ancient Greece, Socrates had a great reputation for wisdom. One day, someone came to find the great philosopher and said to him: "Do you know what I just heard about your friend?" "A moment," replied Socrates. "Before you tell me, I would like...

First Safari - I’ll hunt plains game - What caliber?

30.06 with a Swift A-Frame bullet will get the job done. When the adrenaline kicks in (which it will) recoil will not be an issue.
