The word “better” can have so many meanings… If you are talking strictly for the time keeping ability, perhaps the Omega AT would be a better choice. However, if you are talking about which will hold their value…I’d pick the Rolex every day and twice on Sunday. Which one looks “better”…well...

The extra hand and the date window detract from the pure simplicity of the lines on something like an Oyster Perpetual. At least that’s my thought. The (now out of production) Omega Railmaster is another purist piece, but I know how much @Kevin Peacocke loves a Rolex. ;)

I've been using 7.5's and 8's at 1150 to 1200 fps. I prefer Federal Top Gun loads because the Remington and Rio leave a lot more residue. I can usually find them for $100/250 shells at Rogers Sporting Goods and it's shipped for free! I haven't seen a significant difference between using 7.5's...

I didn't realize you were taking a 404J. In that case, I will double down on the 300WM decision because you already have a DG ready rifle and ammo availability (with your backup PG rifle) is paramount with any traveling hunter. Hope you have a successful trip.
