The goal is to drop your game. That you did and the bullets worked. Could they have worked better? Yep. I had excellent success with Federal's Trophy Bonded Tipped, 180's in my 300WM. They held together and mushroomed superbly after going through Impala (end to end), Waterbuck, and Kudu...

Performance of Federal TBT bullets in 30 caliber

I can tell you from experience that they are excellent bullets. I took all of my animals in southern Zimbabwe with factory 180 grn TBTs out of my 300 WinMag (as mentioned by my brother above). Animals ranged from a Jackal and Baboon to Kudu, Waterbuck, and Wildebeest at ranges between 80 and...

Nice write-ups! I too used a 300 WM. Only I used Federal factory loaded 180grn Trophy Bonded Tipped ammo. Didn't have enough time to work up a handload. The factory loads were just over 2900 fps which is perfectly acceptable in my book. (Though we will be working up a handload.). I found the...

Nice write-up @Tommy Teas ! The 225 gn bullets performed very well! I would think that 2300 fps MV of the 285 gn TSX probably was not enough to initiate expansion. Perhaps it didn't hit anything solid enough? Again - Good report!

ZIMBABWE: 2018 Cast & Blast x2 With Nyamazana Safaris

Thank you, Bob. The safari was a fantastic time! Even now, almost 4 weeks after the hunt, I can't get my mind out of the bush and my hands often search for my rifle! Neither of us are keen on the idea of shooting game in a fenced in area - too much like shooting "fish in a barrel" and not...

    Leftover of Giraffe legs

Scouting around that area we found these odd logs... no, those aren't logs! Those are Giraffe legs. There wasn't any sign of the rest of the animal – just the legs. I believe there was a giraffe taken a week or three prior and they removed the legs for ease of transport.
