I have the same rifle in 30-06 with the synthetic stock and it is a one hole shooter with all types of ammo. The factory Mannox finish on these rifles is much better than Cerakote in my opinion, nearly indestructible. These rifles are made for hunting - Someone is going to get a great rifle.

Don't mis understand - LOL. The 30-06 IS the do all cartridge. With Sta Ball 6.5 I can get my Steyr 30-06 up to factory Win Mag loads without pressure signs. I would have no problem using it on anything in North America including coastal Brown Bear. Buffalo, would be a push but with a 200+ grain...

Kind of a spicy load you got there ! Hornady lists a max load of 41.3 grains of Sta Ball 6.5 for the 175 grain bullet in the 7 x 57mm. How are your pressure signs ?

Just an observation here but it sounds like the shots where the Buffalo ran off were all poorly placed. I don't know any animal that is gut shot that wouldn't run off let alone a Buffalo. Getting a .500 Jefferey for someone who can't accurately shoot a .375 isn't going to make them a better...

Depending on condition I would gladly pay $2800 - $3200 without a scope and more if it has decent glass. These were some of the finest guns made in the Ultra Light format. The .243 is an interesting caliber in this rifle, a great stalking rifle for deer sized game.

Can I spend $4000 on the rifle and the other $11,000 on a hunt ???
