India, 1921. The Duke of Windsor, (1894 - 1972), as Edward, Prince of Wales, (towards the right), at the kill after a tiger hunt, during a royal tour of India. As Prince of Wales he travalled a great deal and achieved considerable popularity. He succeeded his father as King Edward VIII in January 1936. Hundreds of people were involved in such elaborate affairs, hunting tigers from the back of elephants.
