The two I just got in Zambia were both bigger bodied, with decent tusks, but nothing like this guy.
Which brings up a question. The PH on my last hunt asked, in reference to elephants, which was more important to me - the size of the ivory or the experience of the hunt.
Without hesitation I replied, "The hunt".
So, while this hippo is certainly unique; I merely walked across a grassy field, chose a spot where I had a good angle, and shot him while he was grazing with his back to me.
These last 2 on the other hand were quite the opposite. Shooting a hippo point-blank as he's emerging from the water to climb onshore will never be erased from my memory
