CZ 550 in 416 Rigby Rifle

I dont know what happened here , but I am positive I didn't post that picture of my rifle today . It was posted a few days ago on another conversation . Anyone know how that photo would have reappeared on its own today ? Weird !

I am sure you have access to a lot more firearms including nice rifles where you stay than what we do in SA , and that you more than likely have some very nice ones in your collection . If I stayed in the states I would have a lot more than I do know I am sure .

Well we do have generally a better selection of rifles here, but since CZ ceased the production of the 550s, the prices have gone up and the Rigby caliber availability has dried up. Still looking though? As a person with average means, my “collection “ of large bore rifles consists of three CZs (.375, .458WM and Lott- all factory STOCK), and two Interarms Whitworths (.375- factory stock, .416 Taylor semi-custom). Unlike many here on AH, my rifle budget doesn’t allow for anything much more than a “working” man’s rifle. But, really wouldn’t have it any other way!

You have a decent collection of CZ big bores , but a few more such as 416 Rigby , 404 J and 505 Gibbs wouldn't hurt :) . I wouldn't mind having a few more but new they have got very expensive in SA , especially calibers such as 458 Lott and 416 Rigby if one can find them .
In SA we dont get the Interarms Whitworths in the gunshops , are they based on Zastavas ? I seem to remember seeing something like that on what of the chats .

Up until fairly recently , I would say 12 - 18 months ago the CZ 550 magnums sold for about 1300 USD in SA , last week I saw just a barreled action in CZ 550 Magnum going for about 2200 USD . I dont know if these prices are in line with your prices in the states but it is expensive for SA .

Yes, Interarms imported the Zastavas and modeled them the Mark X and Whitworth. The Whitworth’s action is more refined and with Better quality wood. The action was smoothed out at their factory in Manchester, England. My .375 is their Safari version with express sights and barrel band swivel. They quit making the Safari version in .375 and .458WM in 1994, but there’s still some of them here floating around for sale in the $800-$1k price range here. Mine is a great shooter, but I still prefer my CZs.

You can still find used CZ .375s here in the $900-$1k range and .458WM $1k-$1,200 and Lott’s in the $1,200-$1300price range, but not as many for sale recently. The Rigbys are MIA? I should have bought a used one for $900 about a month ago, but like many other things, I didn’t have the discretionary funds at the time.
