Pic coming from 375H&H...now what? at https://www.africahunting.com/threads/375h-h-now-what.45153/

All you need now is a pair of Alaska Arms quick detachable rings and a top quality low power variable scope.
Mine (CZ 550) - in .416 Rigby - darn near the same ballistic versatility as the.375 H&H but it hits buffs a lot harder - wears an older Schmidt & Bender 1 1/4 - 4 x 20 still marked West Germany. They occasionally pop up for used sale from people foolish enough to replace them with the newer/lighter model and they are indestructible, and, if the glass has been well cared for, they are just as bright (for what a human eye can differentiate anyway). I actually prefer these to the newer models and I went the other route: I resold my new one when I found this one...

The length from tube to ocular end is quite substantial. Unless an extended base.ring was used to allow the scope to be set farther forward, there could be a problem shooting a heavy recoiling rifle.

I'm currently using a Leupold VX-3i 1.5-5x20 in Warne QD rings.
I've had excellent return to zero using this combination.
Not nearly the quality glass you have, but a solid choice for a nubbie.
Should do the job until I can afford something better.
Is the stock on your rifle the original from CZ?

@Ray B, that may be an optical effect from the angle of the pic. If you look from a different angle (https://www.africahunting.com/media/cz-550-416-rigby-rifle-mauser-66-458-lott-rifle.61217/) the ocular is pretty much at the standard location above the stock wrist. So far this has not been an issue, although there is always a first time...
For example, after years of shooting my .340 Wby (https://www.africahunting.com/media...stainless-new-haven-made-300-wby-rifle.61218/) without any issue, I ended up 'eating the scope' 4 weeks ago on an anchoring shot on a once-in-a-lifetime Kudu (https://www.africahunting.com/media/eastern-cape-kudu.68770/). Shooting up a very steep slope put the gun at something like a 50 degree angle, and the scope got so close to my forehead that it 'finally' got me after so many years... I also know a few folks who got nailed the same way both in the French Alps and in the US Rockies by calibers as light as .270 Win, so I guess the up angle is really what to watch for...
In any case, your point is a very legitimate point and definitely something to consider. I am used to this scope (I have had the same one on a .338 Win Mag short carbine for 20 years) and I had never noticed this.

@BeeMaa, this is not the factory stock. This is a Bell & Carlson Medalist Kevlar & Aramid stock with full length aluminum bedding block and pillars (https://www.bellandcarlson.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_ID=1099).
I just could not get myself to pony up the AHR $2,795 upgrade #3 (which is the #2 upgrade (including #1) + fiberglass stock), so I installed myself the Bell & Carlson stock and a Gentry firing pin-blocking '3 position' safety, and I 'slicked up' the action (see https://www.africahunting.com/threads/cz-safari-classics-ii.42395/page-4#post-432145). I am quite familiar with the Mausers internals, going back to learning to shoot / hunt with them in the post WWII French Alps when every alpine farm had a few of them taken from German troops during resistance operations...
Functionally I am missing the barrel band front swivel, but, aside from that, I got for $1,522 (rifle $950 + stock $272 + safety $300) the functional equivalent of a $3,745 AHR improved rifle (rifle $950 + upgrade #3 $2,795). I am not interested in a shorter barrel (I do not see the point...); I am just fine with the factory iron sights; and, when adjusted for it, the factory trigger functions as a perfectly acceptable single stage trigger. I like the straightened and filled up bolt handle (I had it on a former Griffin & Howe ZKK 602 custom job (https://www.africahunting.com/media...rno-602-action-damaged-during-handling.65928/) but it is hardly necessary. I wanted a 'working gun' to back-up my double .470 NE (https://www.africahunting.com/media/kreighoff-classic-big-five-470-ne.65769/) in the rain or in the swamps, so I did not spend money on cosmetics on this gun...

As to the Leupold VX-3i 1.5-5x20, this is a great glass, and I am not really sure that paying almost 7x times as much to get a new Schmidt & Bender gets you 7x times as much glass (which you should interpret as: I am pretty dang sure that you do not get 7x as much for 7x the price ;-)
