It is a old vintage ER Shaw custom built on a Pattern 14 Enfield action with Shaw bbl in 375HH. It is the most accurate DG rifle I have ever seen. Shoots sub MOA with about any factory ammo and even better with the Barnes 300g TSX. With the longish bbl I am getting almost 2600fps (2585) from factory loads that are listed 2500fps on the boxes. It hits hard for a mid-bore.

I mounted a Kahles K16i 1-6x optic for this trip. It worked very well. I like it better than the Swarovski for open terrain (Free State) where longer shots may be needed. The more sophisticated Mil-Dot reticle makes easy hold overs possible at 6x, enabling well placed, aimed shots out to 400y which is easily 2x further than one would want to shoot this rifle on game.

My son and I are going on a Texas Nilgai hunt in 2026 and this is one of the rifles we plan to use.
