Hi, Aminkus--it's one of the older Beretta safari jackets. They don't make them any more (I used to work for Beretta), but you can still find them on ebay. I love mine, and I'm taking it on my third Safari this August!

Hello my friend,
I need that jacket, what is it exactly called and i am going to look for it online. I am heading off to Zim for my third safari too and i want that jacket. If you have any leads on where to find it please let me know
thank you

Hi, Aminkus, I have just walked to the Beretta side of my building and nobody remembers what that model was called! It was branded Beretta Sport, which is the Gallery branch of Beretta. The distinguishing characteristics were the internal elastic belt (as opposed to external cotton belt), the 4 cartridge loops above the left breast and the EXTREMELY thick cotton.

I spoke to the head of the Gallery just now and he told me that they make a different safari jacket now, called the Serengeti. There are a few heavily discounted ones on Ebay (I wouldn't pay the $500 they charge for a new one). These have the external belt and no cartridge loops, but it may be made of the same rich, thick fabric as my old one.

If not, I have to say that the ones that Midway USA sells or the TAG branded ones are pretty darned nice. These are functional, very inexpensive and they cut a wonderful figure.

Good luck and let me know how it goes!

Please call me aaron,
You are so kind for doing that. I actually have an old jacket from Midway sports but i have lost a lot of weight ( thank you Ozimpic) and i was looking to get a new one for my next hunt, And that dark Green color is just awesome. I may just take my jacket to a tailor and have him re cut it, but i will keep you posted. IF YOU DO however find one on line please hit me up i would love to get a dark green one for My ele hunt in Zim.
Where are you going on your next hunt?
cheers
Aaron

Hi, Aaron--I will certainly keep my eye out for it. What size do you take now?

I'll be going to the Eastern Cape (Karoo) in August, with my favorite PH Victor Watson. I'll be taking my H&H as well as a "new" (actually about 1910) Westley Richards in 275 Rigby.

All the best,

Tom

Tom , you are my kind of guy, i love the old school calibers and i love the 275 the most. I am taking my Custom built CZ550 404 Jeff to zim to hunt an elephant with Buzz a year from this june.

I am a history teacher by trade so i love the old Classic Victorian age calibers, dress and safari stuff.

I am an XL just to be safe. Like i said i have lost a lot of weight so i could be a large but an XL would be more then fine.

Have a wonderful hunt
Best
Aaron

Hi, Aaron--small world. I was getting my Ph.D. in medieval history at Catholic University when the gun industry sucked me back in with "an offer I couldn't refuse." Taught classic, Latin and Italian at the university level.

A while ago I ordered a Willis & Geiger tan safari jacket (very nicely made) from ebay, which is too big for me. I take a L usually, but this one wears more like an extra large. The seller doesn't accept returns, so it's just sitting in my closet. If you give me your shipping address I'll be glad to send it to you. At least someone else can enjoy it.

Tom

Tom, It is such a small world! I have been teaching High school history in the Chicago suburbs for the past 21 years and i just finally decided to go and get my PHD in hist in modern Middle Eastern history with a focus on Modern Israeli History . We are kindred spirts!!!

What did you do for Berretta?

AND YES I WOULD be honored to wear that jacket on my hunt with Buzz. You are very kind to offer it and I will wear it with pride.
Thank you so much

My address is will be sent by direct message
thank you
