A friend of mine had the exact same rifle but couldn't sight it in. The reason was the barrel was bent. I will give Ruger credit they did give a full refund. He know owns a beautiful 1984 No1 Ruger in 270 with a 26inch barrel.

The only problem I’ve had is with the barrel getting hot and stringing groups. Solved the problem by shooting groups very slowly!
They are without doubt more finicky than bolt guns, but I really enjoy the compact size in the bush. Never needed more than 2 shots when out hunting with it anyway and the first two are always on top of one another.
John my mate Greg one had exceptional wood on it. I told him to ask Ruger to provide a new barrel under warranty but he was just to pissed off.
He has only had the other No1 a few months but it is in pristine condition. After the covid restrictions are lifted he can't wait to get to the range and try it. Hopefully all works out with it for him.
