225grain Accubond Bullet Performance

Don't know how they are made ,I just know they work. The photos show a 225grain accubond started at 2,850fps our of my 35 Whelan. Impact velocity at around 120yards was about 2,600fps. Hit a kudu front on and the skinners retrieved the the bullet from the ham. Around five and a half feet of penetration. The other bullet as good as the accubonds is the Australian Woodleigh projectiles

retained weight of 176grains

I'm using noslers load of 60.5 grains of Varget behind the 225gn accubonds MV 2850fps chronoed out of my 25inch barrel.
A powder that I found works extremely well in the Whelan is cfe223. Speer reloading site list 61 to 64grains behind the 250gn Speer hotcore for close on 2700fps, I get just over. The same change behind the 225gn woodleigh gives me a chronoed velocity of 2950fps calculated muzzle energy of these loads is 4,000 to 4,300 fps. Turns the Whelan into a whole different beast.
WORK UP ALL LOADS FROM MINIMUM AND CHECK THE WEB SITES FOR LOADS LISTED
These loads were safe in my rifle but work up watching for pressure problems
CFE223 slower than Varget and re15 and a bit quicker than H4350 making it ideal for the Whelan. Check out a burn rate chart.
Cheers mate
