Very handsome chef knife! My wife would destroy that beauty! I can’t get her to not put our good kitchen knives in the dishwasher! I have to put a new edge on them and replace the Chicago rivets often! Very frustrating.

Yes the dishwasher is one of the most destructive devises for the longevity of good knives.

Several kitchen items are on the "hand wash only" list. This list includes the sharp knives, sterling, crystal, china and glasses with painted designs. What's left may go into the dishwasher- stainless, "everyday" dishes & glassware. Since it's just two of us I may just do the entire batch in the sink so it may be weeks for the dishwasher to be cycled. It certainly helps the longevity of the things being washed.

This one is going to a friend who kept his previous "good knife" on top of the kitchen cupboard to stop his wife and children using it to cut on plates or putting it in the dishwasher but his brother in law took it down and in using it dropped it on the tiled floor which broke the tip off (heat treat may have been wrong ) I think there are going to be serious discussions on who may or may not use this one.:whistle:

They should be able to spend a sizeable amount for a new knife - from the brother-in-law's life insurance policy.
