Yes. Last London-made bolt gun before selling out to Rogue River Rifle Works in California and later reinventing themselves in the present-day company. Built on a Peter Noreen action.
Thank you, Paul. I bit down really had to pay for it but was glad that I did. The picture was taken while elephant hunting in Botswana. The safari was filmed, and later an article about it appeared in SCI Magazine. The article featured the gun as the centerpiece theme because at that time the real Rigby appeared to be done and dusted. No one knew that it would resurrect years later. The tusks on the bull were an even 70X70, and as it turned out, I had to take him with a couple of body shots. When we came upon him down, he had fallen forward and buried his tusks right up to the lips. So, we started digging to see if what we thought were good tusks in fact were. Luckily, they were perfect as good as we had judged. After hunting elephant, I then knew why the old PHs loved hunting them and wrote so profusely and frequently. There are about 10 animals that I would really hunt again. Elephant is one for sure.
Hi Paul,
No, I never posted it, and in fact, it is still in VHS format!!!! So, this is a reminder that I need to get it converted. I do have a picture of the bull, which I will send behind this. I'm on the left. With me is PH Mark DeWet out of South Africa who hunted me along with a longstanding Botswana PH, Darrel Dandridge.
Best to you and yours for the holiday season.
Mark
