The way the dems acted in the House was disgustingly par for the course, while they do own a lot of this the way Rep. Luna responded was not good either.

Civil war? We on the right are way too comfortable and too complacent to ever start a civil war. We are way too “civil “.

I dont remember the house holding a prayer for the minnesota lawmakers that were gunned down in June. How should this be viewed?

If a dem would have asked for one I seriously doubt any repub would have objected.

So it had to be a Democrat that asked for it versus simply doing the right thing. I think there are issues on both sides of the isle.

That or he was holding center mass and just "missed" high

Sounds like the person making these type of claims has never gone hunting.

Definitely issues on both sides. I did say Luna was out of line as well. Post 62,026
Unfortunately in today’s political climate everything is partisan, even prayers.

Seems like that's acknowledging the GOP alone shoulders any moral burdens.

there are some similarities.. but they are very limited.. that argument is really apples and oranges..

the minnesota lawmakers were state level legislators.. they were not in any way on the national stage...

and they were indeed buried with full state honors.. they were put lying in state, at the MN capitol, given a state funeral, and numerous members of the federal legislature attended their funerals to include Chuck Schumer, Dick Durbin, Amy Klobachar, Tina Smith, and Kelly Morrison... The Governor of MN, Tim Waltz, held candlelight vigils at the State Capital.. The President of the United States, Joe Biden attended the funeral..

Both Hortman and Hoffman were declared Catholics, but neither were known to be heavily involved in their churches..

Kirk was very much on the national stage and his organization, Turning Point is one of the most influential conservative advocacy groups in existence right now and NUMEROUS federal govt political leaders are deeply involved in Turning Point..

Because he is NOT a politician however, he will not be afforded many (if any) of the rights and honors that Hortman and Hoffman were provided...

He was also very well known to be devoutly Christian and heavily founded in his faith....

As a rule, Democrats arent exactly advocates of Christian faith or public prayer even though many profess Christian faith and beliefs..

where Democrats choose to do things like dress in African garb and kneel in the rotunda.. Republicans have often (Kirk is far from the first time) responded to crisis by requesting public prayer..

The difference as I see it is... Had Chuck Schumer or Nancy Pelosi called for prayers on the senate or house floor for Hortman and Hoffman, Republicans would have very likely participated and supported that request... but neither Schumer or Pelosi, or any other Democrat asked for that...

Bobert asked for it.. and the response she got from Democrats was outrage and ridiculous outcry over a pretty simple and easy to execute gesture...

That alone tells you pretty much everything you need to know about the current values and attitudes of each party..

Here's a photo of Tony receiving that Shaw & Hunter award at the 1970 annual EAPHA Dinner Dance. Tony Dyer, then EAPHA President and Princess (Sunny) von Auersperg presented it. I also attended the event.
