Any .577 NE rifles in use out there?

Only the richest amongst us.
I am the amongst the poorest amongst us. :)
My .577NE was made from a $300 H&R shotgun. I am hoping to hear from any other .577 NE buffalo hunter regarding his experience with bullets, loads and stalking, etc. for cape buffalo.
I don't think that there are very many of us .577NE shooters around and I feel like a voice in the bush veld (wilderness). Brian

Brian, I shoot a ,577 NE, and have used it on buffalo, elephant, hippo, leopard, rhino, and variety of plains game

I have one on order going on two years now. I should have it by end of this year 2025. It’s a Heym 89b and I do plan to use it and hunt with it once I receive it in hand I will be looking to book another elephant hunt for its maiden voyage to Africa.
I know of a couple African PHs that use a 577 as well so they are out there.

I have one in a Heym on order that will be done at the end of March. Looking forward to using it on Elephant, Cape Buffalo, and dry land Hippo.

Mr. Karl Stumpfe, white hunter of Ndumo Safaris prefers a Verney Carron boxlock ejector in .577 Nitro Express. I have some mutual friends with him, including the co-author of my autobiography.

My white hunter friend Mr. Mark Sullivan of Nitro Express Safaris currently prefers a Heym Model 88B in .577 Nitro Express. He likes it so much that he has sold all his other double rifles and just uses this one (along with a custom made .375 Holland & Holland Magnum built by Lon Paul on a pre ‘64 Winchester Model 70 action).

What maker?
ndumo,
Thanks for the response. A kindred spirit.
What bullet do you like to use for cape buffalo?
I can only imagine how quickly your .577 sorted out the leopard.

I am also interested in the make and barrel lengths of you rifle. Where I live I don't know of any Africa hunters and I am up for some big bore conversation. Thanks again for the post. Brian

HH, That will be perfect! What bullet do you plan to use? I like 700 gr Peregrine BushMaster bullets and 600 gr. Cutting Edge Raptor Bullets. I have come to expect cape buffalo to be "dead right there" with these bullet if I hit them well. My loads are medium velocity and I shoot buffalo at 50yds or less usually.

You are going to have the best in rifle and cartridge!
I am impressed that there are so many responses to my post. It is a very satisfying cartridge to shoot on cape buffalo, which is the only DG that I have killed with my .577.

Thanks for your reply. Would you happen to know what bullets your friends like to use for cape buffalo? Cheers, Brian

Here is a photo of my "bubba build" 577NE. It once was a H&R 10 ga. shotgun.

Mark prefers 750Gr Barnes TSX and Cutting Edge Bullets monolithic brass flat nosed Safari Solids loaded by Superior Ammunition.

I am told that Mr. Karl Stumpfe prefers hand loaded 750Gr Peregrine bullets.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA

Hello - I was looking at your post from several years ago regarding the Winchester 300 H&H. Any chance you still have the lefty M70 300 H&H for sale?
Thank you, Mike
