Angry Hippo Threatens Zoo Keeper

They are definitely not to be toyed with. ;-)

...which raises a question in my mind (and please pardon my ignorance); but when humans are attacked by hippos, do they normally get bitten or trampled (or both)?
Typically, from what I understand, they are often bitten with those deadly tusks which are their weapons. Also, people can be steamrolled by just being in the way of a hippo trying to get to water. Often if a canoe or boat gets too close to hippos in the water, they will literally chomp it in half with those deadly mouths of theirs. Hippos are very territorial and fierce mothers....and very GROUCHY! Since many Africans can't swim, a capsized boat is a death sentence. They estimate that about 500 people die from hippo/human conflict. Of course, records in rural Africa are quite sketchy...and often remains are never found (thanks to Africa's efficient recycling system). Therefore, true numbers may be much higher. It is the same with other human/wildlife conflict. Thanks for sharing the video. That guy was lucky. At least, I'm assuming he survived. Sue

Thanks again for your support on the Rhodesian Shotgun thread. From the amount of "LIKES" it received, it appears there was only ONE person who objected. Hes also the same one who continually insisted on interjecting his posts that werent relevant to the thread.
