Congratulations on a successful hunt and thanks for the report!
The issue with the Brussels airline seems to me the same I had in January 2022 with Air France. So that might not be airline depandant. Seems to be part of the process in Douala airport. It's certainly confusing, frustrating and a...
I used Air France flights via Paris this January. Used travel agent to help with all paperwork. No issues to get guns to Cameroon. Import/Export process in Cameroon is a hassle, but with arrival service it can be managed. Local support for importing firearm is a must to get it done. I prefer...
I have the 85 Safari in .416 Rigby. Apel detachable scope mounts and Swarovski Z8i scope. No feeding issues and rifle is very accurate.
Frankly if I would have to turn the scope to fix issue, I would much prefer to buy another gun. Luckily mine is working well with the lowest Apel mounts so I...
I hunted Cameroon with JKO and Jacques this year in January. Plenty of Buffalo in the area. We hunted Lord Derby Eland and got a really nice one. Accommodation, arrangements, food and overall experience where really good. JKO's area in Cameroon is huge and should provide plenty of opportunities...
It's always difficult to guess as we have not been there but I'd say the shot was too high, a bit far back and just behind the left shoulder. That is wrong point of aim when the cat is quartering towards as much as it was. Right point of aim would probably have been just in front of the left...
I checked the actual tusk weight from Jacques. The bigger tusk weighted 62lbs and the smaller one was high fifties. Jacques also mentioned that this bull had bigger body than any other bull he has hunted. It was a special bull indeed.

We took round 2 with the Gemsbok. Early in the morning there was no wind at all and then the wind picked up and started swirling. We made several stalks but got busted. Gemsbok were really cautious today. Finally we got to a position for a 220 yard shot. The right Gemsbok had it’s...

After good breakfast we go to the shooting lane. I shoot different house rifles and nothing really is to my liking. It’s not that they are bad rifles, but I am not used to them. I’ve always been sensitive to the rifle and borrowing a rifle seems not like a good option. I shoot my...
I have no idea about any specific limits for tusk size, but it was clear that this was extraordinary non-trophy. That being said, trophy hunters would have been unlikely to take this bull as it had both tusks broken. For me it was perfect as it was really old and showed a lot of character.

Sharing the meat for the people in need is always a great experience. This time was no disappointment. It was also interesting to see how different the meat distribution was in this area compared to the others. Anyway, people were happy and meat made its way to the dinner tables...
Thanks.
No replicas made. I have the video and what ever is stored in my memory. From an earlier hunt I have tusks home already. They are 30 lbs. so this non-trophy was actually a better trophy... Funny how things sometimes go.
Waidmannsdank!
Even after looking at the video with slow motion I can not tell what went wrong with the first shot. The shot was where I aimed so unfortunately I can not tell what went wrong. It's surprisingly difficult shot. And more difficult than I thought it would be. Maybe I manage to do...
Please note that some of the pictures were taken by Chris Esterhuizen / Jongosi Media. I would warmly recommend his services should you need a good cameraman, good set of eyes and even better company at camp.
Moose hunting is now behind so time to get back on the Ele story

Before driving to the Naye Naye border the trackers wanted to check a waterhole some 3 kilometers from the border. There was a trail camera at the waterhole so that would enable us to check what had visited the...
