Regarding photo of 2 rifles is the upper one a sidelock or side plates ? A sidelock would be amazing - a sideplated heavy rifle no way . Too much wood removed . I do like VC double rifles . Even better the Australian distributor lives just up the road !

Not sure it does . Diggory Hadoke is referring to shotguns which operate at much lower pressures than dangerous game rifles . I do think third fasteners are mandatory on big rifles . But not sure Greener cross bolts are better than other systems .

That is a spectacular rifle . I am a big fan of WR rifles - got 4 and all really well built . I own and regularly shoot a 505 Gibbs rifle . 9.5 pounds is very light . It really should way at least 10.5 pounds .

I shoot a 505G and 500NE double . Basically the same effect on game . 500J also likely the same . Norma did load for 505G with their PH range of ammo. The 500 NE is a very good fallback option .

Agree 100% . All my doubles new and old use rimmed cartridges . Lower pressures , no extraction / ejection issues , plenty of ammo available .

It actually is a BSA made rifle - just rebranded Army&Navy . I bought it at Holts in March 2023. Diggory Hadoke commented on it and has photos of it in his online Vintage Gun Journal .

I only ever use soft points on buffalo. Modern expanding bullets are great and penetration is fabulous .

Yes I use the 215 Woodleigh . Still have plenty of these pills . I have the old Manton , Rodda and Locke catalogues from circa 1927-1929 . Lee Speed rifles feature prominently . They really are wonderful rifles and the 303 is just a fantastic cartridge .
